MARMARA SUMMER VILLA PRESS RELEASE
Construction of a sustainable residence, a landmark for the Cyclades, by PAROSTEC
PAROSTEC, starting with quality work, know-how and the required high aesthetic projects, has completed the construction of the first sustainable residence, of high standards in the Cyclades, to receive the BREEAM certification.
It is a minimalistic, seaside residence in Marmara, Antiparos, with a view to Southwest Paros, designed by ISV architectural office. PAROSTEC’s goal, in collaboration with the project’s researchers, is to create a landmark for the Cyclades, which would be an exemplar for the sustainable development of modern country houses, but also for housing projects in Greece in general.
Of particular interest is the environmental sensitivity of the building’s design and its green architecture, based on the BREEAM (Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method) an international sustainability certification, which it is expected to be received in the near future.
At the same time, the project will be certified in the “Post Construction Stage” and aims to be ranked in the highest sustainability scales with an “Excellent” rating, placing particular emphasis on the categories of the application of safety and hygiene measures on the construction site, the sustainability of construction products, sound insulation and consumption energy and water.
Finding holistic answers in areas such as occupant health and well-being, bio-climatic innovation, ecological materials, construction methods and pollution reduction has been the driving force behind the design and construction. Issues that are at the center of the century we are going through.
The residence is developed on two levels, which accommodate the daily living spaces: Four bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms, two guest rooms, staff rooms, gym, home cinema and storage. The volume of the house is broken up by large openings, the frames of which are hidden in recesses. When this happens, the house transforms into a large open space, where indoor and outdoor spaces are unified. The modern form of the country house seeks the limits of traditional architecture, characterized by the strict geometry, clarity and austerity of the popular Cycladic architecture, with a modern design line and refined details, which give discreet luxury.
Referring to the construction of the sustainable residence in Antiparos, the co-founders of PAROSTEC, Giorgos Kangelis and Giorgos Oikonomopoulos, said, “We are very satisfied with the construction of this particular project and the collaboration with the architectural office ISV. Nowadays, green buildings have been attracting the interest of both investors and private individuals. Particularly for the Greek islands, due to the large touristic development, sustainable housing is very important for the saving of resources and energy and of course for the well-being of the people.
